Catch More Flies With Honey

I’m glad Meryl Streep has such a passion for the disabled because I didn’t hear her weigh in and I didn’t hear her use her platform last night to give a shout-out to the mentally challenged boy who last week was tortured live on Facebook for half an hour.” - Kellyanne Conway

For a few years now, I've respected a lot of friends choices to vocalize, or not vocalize, their opinions. I call into question, though, their ongoing mantra of tolerance, acceptance and diversity. I have had a multitude of people try to cram their beliefs down my throat, only for these same people to shut out any and all responses.
Accusations have flown fervently from these folks on a number of topics. Any response has fallen on deaf ears. The accusers don't want to hear a response. They want to hear themselves drone on and on, bashing this and that with a false air of authority. That's a special kind of stupid. And it hasn't gone unnoticed. Their rants have not had the desired effect.
Like Meryl Streep, the bashers have used their platform to hundreds, thousands, and in Ms. Streep's and many other celebrities, millions in vane. Think of the progress that could be made if they only put their efforts where they could make a real difference.
In Ms. Streep's case, she is apparently concerned about people with disabilities. She failed on an immense scale to have done real good. She should take a page from the Angelina Jolie playbook.
And so should many people on Facebook. We get it. You lost and are intent on letting the rest of us know how ignorant and immature you are. Keep spewing the hate and throwing your tantrums. Keep regressing. Talk about missed opportunities.
You know, you could catch more flies with honey.
